I do have to say my kitchen is pretty stocked at all times. Well..... one day last week I prepped my Walmart Grocery pick up order. I meticulously went through each recipe and added ingredients to my cart. Checked out and picked up my order later that day.
When I got home and sorted every item out by recipe and went to the cabinet to get the baking spray with flour the can was just about empty. Oh crud!!!!! What is a home baker to do? Go to Pinterest!
I immediately found a recipe for cake release that had lots of good reviews. I had all the ingredients and decided to whip up a batch.
1 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of plain shortening
1 cup of All Purpose Flour
In a mixer combine all the ingredients until it become a smooth but loose paste. Store in a mason jar in the fridge for a couple of months. You of course could halve this or even quarter it.
I found that using a traditional pastry brush is much better than a silicone brush. The tradition bristles get into the little crevices of mini bundt pans and the bottoms of the mini muffin pans.

Paring Knife Set
I always get a bit nervous when Miss V uses our old knives. They are dull and accidents happen more with dull knives.
Last week I was in Target and found this little set of knives which I thought would be good for Miss V's small hands.
She loves them and they are very easy for her to use.

Surprise gift!
One guest that came to Desserts & Fireworks surprised me with a little gift. It was a Lemon Cheesecake mix and this adorable set of mini measuring spoons. Aren't they the CUTEST!!!!
It includes a Dash spoon, a Pinch spoon and a Smidgen. A little tag that came with it gave the measurements as;
A Dash is equal to 1/8 tsp.
A Pinch is equal to 1/16 tsp.
A Smidgen is equal to 1/32 tsp.

I just love them!! I am going to hang them on the door of my sprinkle cabinet.

My silly girl
So for the last few days, Miss V keeps looking for a package by the front door. Today I asked her what she was looking for, and she said my onion goggles.
OMG I about busted out laughing. Then she started to tear up and said that they must have got lost in the mail.
Ok months ago she asked for onion goggles and a Rachel Ray kids chef knife and glove. I told her to pick one and I will put it on her wish list at Amazon. I totally forgot about it and never did order them.
So I just ordered them and put her name as the person to ship to. I can't wait to find out when they ship and I am not telling her. She will be so surprised!!
BTW she first saw them I think on a Paul Deen show but didn't want pink, she wanted black and green. OMG I really can't wait for them to come.
